PITTSBURGH - The young and skilled outfit that is the Pittsburgh Penguins added another important entry Friday night in a story that has years left to play out.
Down 3-0 in the second period to the Eastern Conference's stingiest team this season, Sidney Crosby and his teammates rallied back for a 5-4 thriller in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal with the New York Rangers.

OTTAWA - Shaking hands with the Ottawa Senators felt vastly different for the Pittsburgh Penguins this time around.
"A little more smiling," said Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

PITTSBURGH - Even a 49-save effort from Martin Gerber wasn't good enough for the Ottawa Senators. Perhaps nothing will be.
Ryan Malone's power-play goal with 1:02 left in the third period lifted the Pittsburgh Penguins to a thrilling 5-3 win over the Senators and a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference quarter-final series.

PITTSBURGH (AP) -Marian Hossa wants to be part of yet another Ottawa Senators' playoff disappointment.
Hossa, a five-time All-Star forward, has long been saddled with the reputation of being a reliable point producer during the season but one who disappears for long stretches during the postseason.
When the Pittsburgh Penguins acquired Hossa on Feb. 26, one of the first questions he fielded wasn't about playing alongside Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, but his spotty playoff record.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was honored at the Pittsburgh American Ireland Fund Dinner Gala at Heinz Field on Saturday, March 15.
Crosby received the AIF Chairman’s Award, which recognizes exceptional leadership in community and charitable activities. He is the first athlete to receive the AIF Chairman’s Award. AIF has honored only one other sports figure – former Steelers Coach Bill Cowher, in 1998.
