Spezza scored the first shot of the shootout while Alfredsson added the insurance after Dany Heatley failed on his attempt. Neither Nikolai Kulemin nor

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators have placed Luke Richardson on waivers, a move that could lead to the veteran defenceman's retirement.
If he clears waivers by noon ET Friday, he'll be eligible to play for the club's AHL affiliate in Binghamton. But he's not expected to report to the minors.
At 39, Richardson is the fourth-oldest player in the NHL and has spent most of the season as a healthy scratch. In two games, he recorded zero points and two penalty minutes.
