Posted by billy on 04/14/2008 - 10:20 PMThe Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Denis Grebeshkov to a one year, $1.5 million contract.
The Russian born blueliner enjoyed a solid first year in Edmonton with three goals and 15 assists in 71 games while posting a +2 rating. In 104 career games the 25-year old Grebeshkov has three goals and 21 assists.
Grebeshkov was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round (18th overall) of the 2002 NHL entry draft. He was acquired from the Islanders last season forMarc-Andre Bergeron and a 3rd round draft pick.
Grebeshkov has been invited to the Russian National Team's training camp in preparation for the upcoming 2008 IIHF World Championship in Halifax and Quebec City.
