So it's 7 days past the free agent frenzy and Montreal has been turned upside down. CJAD wouldn't stop talking about the prospect of getting Vincent Lecavalier into town before his no-trade kicks in, and there where more then enough rumors to throw around and feed the hockey-fueled city. We had rumors of Hossa and Gaborik and everything in between Canada and Russia.

The NHL is trying to crackdown on unnecessary blows to the head.
The NHL's Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations, Colin Campbell, had the following memo, obtained by TSN, posted in every NHL dressing room on Friday.
"Recently, we have had two (2) supplemental discipline incidents involving direct elbow blows to the head. This is a play that we have been trying to remove from our game for a number of years. In one case there was no injury and in the other incident the elbowed Player received a concus

General managers will have one extra day to make NHL trades. The league said yesterday it has pushed the trade deadline back to March 4. A high volume of games forced the switch. There are 12 games on the schedule March 3 and only two March 4. The league and NHL Players' Association agreed on the change.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Sabres agreed to terms with University of Denver defenceman Chris Butler on Sunday.
Butler, Buffalo's fourth round pick in 2005, just completed his junior season at Denver, where he had three goals and 17 points. He was named to the All America second team on Friday after leading the Pioneers with 110 blocked shots as well as guiding the team's No. 1 power-play unit.
Butler finishes his three-year collegiate career with 20 goals and 66 points in 115 games.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Not enough leadership on a Sabres team with too young of a lineup was blamed as the key reason Buffalo failed to make the playoffs this season.
That's the assessment Sabres executives provided at the team's season-end news conference Thursday, when general manager Darcy Regier announced his objective to pursue veterans in free agency this summer to turn Buffalo into a contender again.
