I agree. A 2000kbps WMV stream would like as good if not better than a 3000kbps flash stream. WMV is less digitized.

And Billy, just because they are a bonus why wouldn't you want them to look the best they could. It would be a simple tweak to make them widescreen or add some kbps. Instead of an 800 and 1000kbps stream which really aren't that much different it makes sense to have an 800 and 1600kbps. Which takes hardly any work or extra effort on your your end. I guess we'll see how much you really want to say thank you to your users who pay good money in hopes that hockeystreams.com will do their best to provide the best viewing experience.

So far, 3 lower quality streams that are all basically the same instead of spreading out the streams kbps, ignoring users problems and emails, and promising things that you don't back up aren't the way to show it.

all the problems with Flash why dont you switch to WMV only, HD wmv stream would probably be twice as good as the flash stream. With HD streams to xbox/ps3/whatever as a bonus.

Your flash streams suck, they stutter and are unreliable. Hell for me they dont even work when full screen mode on a monitor, and before you suggest it, its not my 20mbps connection or my high end computer.

Wow...you guys who are requesting more resources for WMV streams need to go start your own hockey streaming site and see what kind of success you have. Look around the industry...no one is serving up WMV streams anymore. Let HS iron out the MP4(H.264) streams. Its the same technology that Netflix, Youtube, NHL GCL and thousands of others are using to deliver streaming video. Difference between those companies and HS is they have alot more technical staff dedicated to this. HS for the most part appears to be a one man show.

Hang in there....the stream quality is amazing this year. We are getting better quality than GCL right now. I know some folks are running into issues and HS has the outage last night. I tell my friends about HS but I let them know....if you want perfection and cant tolerate some technical glitches here and there...dont bother.

Personally the Flash streams have been excellent for me. The Roku streams that have worked have been stellar. Most of the stream jerks and buffering are really the result of the Flash client playing the stream. Devices that play the direct HLS streams are the way to go for digital delivery. Web browsers just suck and really dont do justice to the stream.

My suggestion Billy: Ditch the WMV once the Flash streams are stable and have an 800-1600-3200 bitrate offering.

My problem isn't with the type of stream, it's simply the kbps. So i wholeheartedly agree with you here. To have 2 800kbps streams, a 1000 kbps stream, and then jump all the way up to 3200kbps doesn't make much sense. Get the streams stable and then spread out the options so that Hockeystreams.com be the best for the most people.

I actually started using HockeyStreams BECAUSE it used a widely supported standard such as WMV. It made it a snap to integrate into my HTPC, as well as use it on game systems. The multiple stream rates made it easy to find one that would look great and stream smoothly.

When silverlight came on the scene, the promise was that every stream would retain a single WMV feed, which was still good enough for me. On busy nights the WMV would be there and silverlight would drop off.

Now with flash, WMV seems to be a secondary afterthought, and the last few caps games have been sans WMV. Flash runs like crap on my HTPC, which plays 1080p blurays without a burp. Flash tears something horrible and is jerky as sin fullscreen, making it unwatchable.

I think the DVR capabilities that the flash version brings is great, and the iOS page is fantastic when I'm out of the house with my ipad. Bottom line is that lack of a more universal format dramatically reduces the value for those of us with game consoles or non-windows based HTPCs.

That said, you mentioned that the iOS kind of is a sneakpeak of HTML5 streaming, and that heartens me a bit. Though it still wont integrate as well with my HTPC, I most likely will be able to watch it smoothly after manually starting up the feed.
