    HD & Widescreen WMV Source
Why do you use Standard Definition and 4:3 aspect ratio for the source of the WMV feeds. It would be much crisper and look better to use the same source as you do for the Flash videos. I can't stand watching 4:3 hockey. The sides are cut off so much.

P.S. is there a reason behind the hockeystreams logo on top of every WMV video, it's a little annoying for a pay service to have.

The only reason we provide WMV feeds is so that people can watch feeds in VLC, PS3, and XBOX.

We throw these extra feeds in as a Thank you for the people that support us, and have asked for these devices to be supported.

Windows Media currently cannot look as crisp and as good as the Flash feeds due to the outdated encoder that is needed to use these.

We watermark our videos because people rebroadcast them, This lets the viewers know where the source of the stream is.

You completely missed the point of my post. Why can't you use a widescreen HD source instead of the SD 4:3 source that you currently use? Hockey just looks so much better in widescreen when you can see more of the ice.

I will say that the two games from last night look better as WMV streams than any of the previous ones. All the previous games that used premium and extreme were really bad quality. So keep up whatever you are doing, and if you can use the same widescreen source to allow for the 16:9 AR they would look even better!

Still haven't gotten an answer on why the WMV source is 4:3. It seems crazy to use a SD 4:3 source to stream hockey. It would so much better in 16:9.

    Hello,
The WMV streams do not have the ability to stream an HD source - Hence, instead of stretching the feed, we keep it 4:3.

Why don't they have the capability? It's not WMV capability because I have seen plenty of WMV streams from a HD source, heck, I've done it on my personal site and it looks great. You just don't have the equipment of capacity for the stream?

I didn't mean the actual technology, I meant our streams. Like I stated earlier, the only reason those streams are still available is to reward loyalty.

They are not being tweaked for better quality, etc. They are there for those that may not be able to handle the demands of a Flash stream. They are a bonus.

all the problems with Flash why dont you switch to WMV only, HD wmv stream would probably be twice as good as the flash stream. With HD streams to xbox/ps3/whatever as a bonus.

Your flash streams suck, they stutter and are unreliable. Hell for me they dont even work when full screen mode on a monitor, and before you suggest it, its not my 20mbps connection or my high end computer.
