The 2010-2011 season is quickly approaching. With that - We have several extremely exciting announcements to make.

These new additions have been extensively worked on through out the off season and should be live in time for the season to start.

    Starting off...

    New Website!
We decided that our previous design has outgrown itself and are proud to introduce HockeyStreams V3!

The new design incorporates new features and general user friendliness.

What you will find in the new design:
    - New and Improved calendar page showing what event a scheduled broadcast is. view
    - Ability to Freeze / Unfreeze your account.
    - Working and improved Referal system (You can now apply credit when you accumulate over $10). info
    - Improved forum functionality (speed, and features)
    - Improved Game Chat (speed, and reliability)
    - and much more!

The above is currently active and you can use.

    What changed:
    - The Premium HD™ membership is now known as Premium Gold™
    - HQ feeds are now known as Premium feeds
    - HD feeds are now known as Premium Extreme feeds
    - HDPlus feeds are now known as Premium Deluxe feeds

What will be popping up shortly:
    - Silverlight streams (H264 feeds with adaptive bandwidth technology that automatically chooses what speed is best for you).
    - DVR Controls (Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward live streams.
    - TRUE HD (720p) feeds
    - World wide content distribution with streaming servers placed all over the world.

    The kicker
Ever wanted to watch our feeds on iDevices such as an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad? This season you can! We will be launching a new tier to our memberships - HockeyStreams iStream™. Click here to learn about iStream.

    Prices
Prices will go up 10% once we roll out the Silverlight streams. This is scheduled for the middle of October. It is a raise we had to pass on due to rising fees with new additions.

There's been a ton of changes over the summer and there are some features we are currently still working on and will update the list later.

Now that everybody knows our plans, Lets get this season rolling with a few Rookie Tournament games. Join me starting at 2PM tomorrow for rookie squad games between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Ottawa Senators. Then at 7PM the defending Stanley Cup Chamipons against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Looking forward to another great hockey year!

If you find any bugs in the new design please let me know so I can forward it to our dev team.

These changes sound great, but I am slightly concerned about the change to silverlight. As a linux user, I don't think I'll be able to use silverlight video streams. Is compatibility being test? Will the old style streams still be available? Thanks.

That's correct. Unless we can find a cross-platform way to deliver Silverlight we will offer both.

There is a silverlight implementation on linux called moonlight, but as far as I can tell, it is still far behind silverlight. I'd be glad to test the new streams on my box if you think that would be useful. Either way, it's good that the old style streams will still be available. Thanks.

    Hello,
    these improvements seems interesting.
Is it possible to stream these rookie tournament games without Premium account to see how are they working? If they'll work fine, I'm surely to buy at least Premium account.

Unfortunately not. You can sign up for a single day and then use that fee to upgrade towards a longer membership if you'd like.

    Thanks
